Guardian Angel’s Struggle
Guardian was conceived while his mother was still in school pursuing a nursing course. Her parents chased her away to look for Guardian's father but he too denied the pregnancy.
His mother lived with a friend until she delivered before taking him to stay with his grandmother so she (Guardian's mother) could finish her studies.
After a few years, things didn’t work out at his grandparents' and he became an in and out street child after reuniting with his mother.
When former President Moi approved a rehabilitation plan for all the streets families in Kenya's major towns including Nairobi, Guardian Angel was among the homeless children caught in the swoop.
"I was nine years old when it all happened. I was lying in one of my favourite spots along Kijabe Street when a man grabbed and tossed me into a City Council van that was parked nearby. All I remember thereafter is a month-long struggle in the cells at the Central police station," he narrated to Pulse.
"I was taken to Ahadi Children's Home, where I stayed for five years. It was while at the children's home where I discovered I was gifted in music as a drummer," he says of his musical journey.
Even though he had a passion for music, Guardian explained that life was not easy and he contemplated giving up at some point.
