It’s a rumour that has circulated in school playgrounds for years, and now scientists have finally revealed whether there’s any link between foot size and penis size.
Sadly for men with big feet, it seems that the link is a myth, and that foot size has nothing to do with penis size.
Speaking to Insider, Dr Jill McDevitt, a resident sexologist at CalExotics, said: “Penis size is not correlated with or predicted by shoe size or any other body part for that matter.
“Penis size is determined by a combination of genetics and environmental factors, mostly in utero.”
Several studies have also looked at penis and foot size and struggled to find a link.
For example, in 2002, researchers from St Mary’s Hospital, London, measured the penis length of 104 men and related this to their shoe size.
The results revealed that the average penis length was 13cm, while the average UK shoe size was 9. However, these two measurements did not appear to be linked to one another.
In the study, published in the British Journal of Urology International, the researchers wrote: “The supposed association of penile length and shoe size has no scientific basis.”
Despite these studies, the myth of big feet meaning big penis lives on.
Speaking to Insider, Dr Nesochi Okeke-Igbokwe, a New York-based physician, said: “The body of research available demonstrates no scientific evidence that can definitively link both penile length and shoe size, yet the ‘large feet equals large penis’ myth still continues to pervade in popular culture.”
