The family of Bomet East MP Beatrice Kones is in mourning.
The Member of Parliament lost her daughter, Vicky Chebet Kones on Tuesday 16 April after she was admitted to hospital but died after her condition worsened.
“Vicky had been unwell but her condition worsened on Tuesday night. She was rushed to hospital where the doctors tried to stabilise her but, unfortunately, she did not make it” Kevin Kones, the deceased brother explained.
Vicky’s death comes barely a month after her brother, Collins Kipyegon Kalya took his own life due to family issues.

According to reports, Collins Kipyegon took to social media to post of his intention to commit suicide and
He then texted his mother, Beatrice Kones who was in South Africa at the time, asking her to take care of his children.

“He sent me a message stating he was taking his life and I should take care of his children. The action was unwarranted as he did not lack anything,” Beatrice narrated.
Before he died, Kipyegon was jobless, while his wife is employed at a power company in Naivasha. This, according to a family member, could also have pushed him to commit suicide.
The late Collins Kipyegon left behind a widow and three children.
The family of Beatrice Kones has gone through a great loss as she lost her husband, Kipkalya Kones in 2008 to a plane crash accident.
