A 37-year-old woman is facing death sentence after a Narok high court found her guilty of shooting dead her Asian lover four years ago in a drunken stupor inside their bedroom.

Hellen Wambui, who appeared before Narok High Court Judge Justice Justus Bwonong’a, was found guilty of murdering her boyfriend at Nkorinkori area in Narok South Sub County on January 20, 2015.

Earlier on in her defense,Wambui told the court that her boyfriend Roy Ibrahim, with whom they had two children had shot himself after a disagreement.

Wambui, who until her sentence was a trader in Narok town had told the court she met Ibrahim in 2007.

However, the 11 witnesses who appeared before the court among them three Criminal Investigating Officers, two cooks, medics, neighbour and a guard gave clear testimony that found the young woman guilty.

Samson Njoroge, an investigating officer told the court by the time he arrived in the deceased house, his body was lying in a pool of blood with a bullet on his chest and another on the blanket.

“According to our investigations, the deceased had not shot himself because of the nature of the bullet that passed through the left side of the chest and existed above the buttocks,” the investigating officer told court.

Another investigating officer Paul Kiilu said the house the couple was in had only one entrance and there were no signs that a third person would have entered the house to commit the crime.

He added there was smoke in the house at the time he entered suggesting the crime had just been committed. Lawrence Kinyua, a government analyst, told the court that after the blood sample analysis, he found the DNA of the blood on the shirt, vest, seats, towel, caution were similar to the blood of the deceased.

While reading his judgment, Justice Bwononga said there was enough evidence to prove that the young woman had shot her boyfriend.

Justice Bwononga said investigations showed the firearm used was in good condition and was capable of being fired.

“I find you guilty of murder because you were an intelligent and untruthful witness.

“The prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt that you murdered your boyfriend hence I have found you guilty of murder,” said the judge.

Wambui has until February 20 to allow the probation team to wind up their report before the final verdict is read.
