Bongo crooner Diamond Platnumz has revealed the amount of money he parted with for collaborations with American musicians Ne-Yo and Rick Ross.
Speaking during a session with the Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA), the musician decried the high cost of doing music while calling for a rise in royalties paid to artistes for ring-back tones.
According to Diamond, he spent Sh10 million for the ‘Marry You’ collaboration with Ne-Yo.
“Yani 100% ukweli mtupu. Hakuna uwongo wowote,” he reaffirmed his statement.
For ‘Waka’ alongside Rick Ross, the WCB head honcho parted with Sh5.6 million.
Following the meeting that brought together the TCRA, mobile phone operators and artistes, the artists’ stake from ringtones was raised from 30% to 50%.
“The new amount will be used during this transitional time, while we are looking for modalities which will benefit both sides.
“Our aim is to make sure that every party involved reaps fruit of their work,” said TCRA director general James Kilaba.
