A student has allegedly been sent away from Bishop Sulumeti Girls’ High School for posting poor results in end-year exams.

The student was said to have scored Grade E during the third term exams. According to the girl’s parent, she was sickly and spent little time in class as she was in and out of hospital.

“On 7th of this month, I realised I had paid this year’s fee by an extra Sh9,500 out of the Sh50,000 I had deposited to the school’s bank account,” said her father. He said when he went to the principal’s office to discuss the issue, he was told his daughter was unwanted at the school.

The girl’s father said he registered a complaint with the county education officials, who failed to resolve the issue.

Seek redress

“I went to the Kakamega Catholic Diocese to seek redress and the church leadership talked to the principal. They told me to go back to the school and instead of giving me a second chance, I was given a cheque of Sh50,000 and told to look for another school.”

He wants Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed to intervene.

School Principal Jane Cheloti said: “The parent was not following the performance of his daughter and I just wanted him to be responsible.

“He is not being genuine and his actions to report me to higher authorities and the media is out of malice.”
