#JusticeForComrades: Kenyans decry high number of student murders

 Some of the students killed in recent times.

University students across Kenya have taken to social media decrying the high number of student murders.

Taking to twitter through the hashtag #JusticeForComrades, the students demanded for firmer action by the criminal justice system against the perpetrators.

According to a section of the students, the police have been lax in apprehending the murderers, prompting their move.

Speaking to The Standard, the rapper claimed that Kenneth Abom broke into his house on Thursday.

The deceased reportedly ran to their house on the fourth floor with a cut on the right side of his head and blood-stained shirt.

According to witnesses, who are also residents of Newbury court in the estate, Kenneth fled as Octopizzo pursued him.

His brother, Paul Abom, said Kenneth dashed to the bathroom to clean himself up and the next thing they knew he had fallen through the window to the ground.

Investigations into the death are ongoing.

Barely a month ago, the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (Ipoa) opened an investigation into the death of a university student in Kibera.

Leeds University student Carilton Maina was shot dead by a police officer in Kibera.

But according to Kilimani OCPD Michael Muchiri, the student was part of a four-man gang that was terrorising the public while armed with a homemade pistol and knives

Activist Moses Okiyi claimed that in the past two months police in Nairobi slums have killed 22 youths in slum areas for no apparent reasons.

“This must come to an end as details of those killed by police have been compiled as part of seeking for justice,” he said.
