“What are you praying for and working towards in 2019?” Asked American gospel icon Don Moen as the year began.

To which the late Rwandan top model and actress Alexia Uwera Mupende, 35, responded on Twitter, “Growing closer to God.”

That was on January 3rd.

Fast forward to Tuesday the eighth and she was gone after she was allegedly stabbed to death by a domestic worker at her father’s home in Kicukiro District.

According to The New Times, the 2012 Premier Model winner was allegedly fatally stabbed in the neck by Antoine Nyireba.

After committing the act, Nyireba, 23, is said to have fled the scene.

She succumbed to her injuries and her body was taken to the Rwanda Military Hospital (RMH).

So, who is she?

Born in Nairobi in 1984, Mupende did her formative education here in Kenya and graduated from Mount Kenya University (MKU) with a Business Information and Technology (BBIT) degree.

“I am Rwandan. I was born in Nairobi, Kenya but fortunately I was able to return back home,” she told rwandaclothing.

Standing at 5’10,” Mupende bagged Miss Junior crown three times and Miss Intermediate twice.

She was the first Rwandan model to grace the Africa Fashion Show Geneva (AFSG) in 2015 during the competition’s third edition.

Invitation cards had reportedly been sent out, reports Softpower.
