A group of cons are out to defraud unsuspecting Kenyans using Rachel Ruto’s name.
While distancing herself from the scam, the wife to Deputy President William Ruto issued a warning to the public, revealing that the group was claiming to give out vehicles in a bogus business promotion.
“I would like to alert the public of a scheme by con men and women using my name to purportedly give out vehicles in a fraudulent business promotion.
“I am NOT running any competition or giving out any cars. The page is a hoax and do NOT send any money or your personal information to anyone.
“I have reported the matter to the Police and alerted the Facebook administration to take necessary action,” she wrote.
Police Spokesman
This comes days after reports of another con who hoodwinked Kenyans by pretending to be Police Spokesman Charles Owino.
When contacted by the Sunday Standard, the con became cross for not being referred to with the amount of respect he says he deserves.
“Do you know who you are talking to? Do you know that I am Owino and I have the power to hire or fire anyone in the police ranks as I wish?” he said.
According to the police boss, the impostor has opened four Facebook accounts and created a rich online platform he is using to dupe innocent Kenyans into paying for a variety of services.
The police spokesman said he has reported the matter to the DCI.
