Angry villagers on Friday afternoon lynched a 22-year-old man who had broken into the house of a local assistant chief.
The incident occurred at Utithini village in Kaewa location, Masinga sub-county. The locals had responded to a distress call by Assistant Chief Shadrack Maingi who found the man inside his house.
Speaking to the Sunday Standard yesterday, the chief said he returned home from routine duty at around 2pm and found the lock for the main entrance door broken.
Upon entering the house, he found the man who was armed with a Somali sword. “He ordered me to leave or get slaughtered and I had to comply. I called the neighbours for help and they came and disarmed him,” he said.
Masinga OCPD Francis Sirol said the man was lynched while being frog marched to the police station.
