A mother and her daughter have been accused of breaking into a house and occupying it.
The two women denied the charges - and told the court the house came courtesy of Makadara MP George Aladwa.
The two women, Elizabeth Nyambura Mwaura, 36, and mother Judy Wangare Wangure, 63, are alleged to have forcibly occupied land and house belonging to Edward Okida.
The court heard that the house initially belonged to Teleposta Pension Scheme before it was bought by the complainant.
Okinda claims he bought the house in 2010 at a cost of Sh2.6 million. He was however not handed the property forcing him to file a case in court.
The High court granted Okinda an order - directing the accused to leave.
The accused allegedly left when they were served — only to return to occupy the property days later. The house had since been sealed off by Okida.
Okinda reported the matter to the police leading to their arrest.
Mother and daughter, however, denied the charges claiming they had been occupants of the said house since 2008.
They said: “We were thrown out of the house and had nowhere to go. It took the intervention of Makadara member of Parliament George Aladwa who came and broke the steel door in order for us to access the house.”
The two were released on Sh5, 000 cash bail each pending hearing on January 21, 2019.
