A car belonging to a grandmother of one of the XXXTentacion murder suspects has revealed crucial evidence that might be used against him.
Police in Florida searched a Cadillac that was owned by Michael Boatwright's grandmother and discovered two "dark colored" masks, .22 caliber ammunition and an assault rifle.
The ammunition, police said, matches the brand and caliber of casings found at the scene of XXXTentacion's fatal shooting that happened outside a car dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida on June 18.
XXXTentacion - real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot in the driver's seat of his black BMW while parked outside the dealership and was pronounced dead shortly after at Broward Health North hospital.
The rapper had a bag packed full of $100 (Sh10,000) notes into his BMW when he was gunned down, police say. He was carrying a total of $50,000 (Sh5 million) in the bag which the armed men in black masks took before speeding away in an SUV.
Boatwright, 22, was arrested on June 11 and is among four other suspects, all 22 years, that are facing first-degree murder charges for their alleged role in shooting of the 20-year-old.
Boatwright is currently in custody where is expected to undergo a mental capacity evaluation.
Others who have been arrested and facing first-degree murder charges in the case are Robert Allen, Dedrick Devonshay Williams and Trayvon Newsome.
