Deputy President William Ruto’s security detail had a rough time over the weekend trying to contain a resolute woman who wanted a ‘handshake’ from the DP when he toured Baringo County.
The woman who had a child in her arms was captured on camera trying to muscle her way to the dais where Ruto stood addressing a crowd in Eldama Ravine.
In the video, the woman is seen standing her ground as a she attempted to force her way to the DP.
The crowd can be heard begging the security to let her through as she shoved them aside with one arm while holding her sleeping infant in the other.
Ruto’s security detail immediately zeroed in on her as the bodyguards, including administration police officers manning the crowd tried to stop her from making her way to the dais.
Noticing the commotion it was causing, the DP asked her to take a seat but she could hear none of it.
She was eventually ushered onto the dais where other dignitaries were seated and took her seat on the floor.
It is not the first time Ruto has had to cut short his speech this month.
Just a few days ago, the DP had to take his seat after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko caused a scene after he was left out of the program during the National tree planting day at the Moi Forces Academy.
“Your Excellency before you’re invited, I think the status program is very clear that I’m supposed to speak” stated an infuriated Sonko as the DP returned his seat.
