Before meeting his current wife Prisca Mwaro, Ababu was married to his campus sweetheart with whom they had two children Prisca has denied rumours that they are living apart, insisting that she loves her Ababu

A woman linked to Ababu Namwamba’s troubled marriage has strongly denied being the politician’s secret lover.

Mary Quinter Odilo says it is an abomination to have an intimate relationship with the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAF) since his wife, Prisca Mwaro, is her aunty and close friend.

She says some people confuse her closeness to Ababu as a political strategist with love. Quinter was one of Ababu’s six trusted campaigners. The association broke after elections were over, she claims.

Quinter termed as farfetched claims that she was dating the former Budalang’i MP, saying she could not prevent “idlers” from talking about her, either positively or negatively.

“Those are total lies propagated by people who like maligning others. Even if I am that desperate and stupid, that is the last thing I can do. Ababu is my relative whom I campaigned for and parted ways after we differed ideologically,” states Quinter.

“I am brown, tall and very beautiful, I prefer men who are muscular, tough and capable of defending me,” she added.

Before meeting Prisca, Ababu was married to his campus sweetheart with whom they had two children. Ababu paid bride price to her parents in 2004, but cracks soon emerged around the 2007 General Election.  Though elders were called in to reconcile the couple several times, the marriage collapsed in 2009.

Contacted by The Nairobian, his first wife said she does not wish to discuss her past with the politician, stating that: “I will not be part of that article.”

A relative in the know about Ababu’s private life said that his first wife suspected Ababu and Prisca were an item at the time.

Allegations that Ababu and Prisca could now be living apart were refuted by the wife who told The Nairobian that, “We are still together.  The ODM party is not happy with his political decision and is spreading the rumours that are being fuelled by bloggers.”

Prisca added that people come up with all manner of allegations to destroy the reputation and careers of others.

“He is my husband, I love him so much irrespective of what people say. For us, we are okay, don’t worry about the rumours,” she said
