By now, you should have seen Krysteen Savane’s red-carpet look at the Oscars, the dashing look that kept the Kenyan flag high. We also know that the Watu Wote actress was dressed by Kenyan designer Neomi Ng'ang'a.
Speaking to Pulse, Neomi revealed that she approached the Oscar-nominated Watu Wote crew during the film’s Kenyan premiere and offered to dress them for the Oscars.
“I am the one who approached them but they had so many designers asking to dress them so we really never sealed the deal then. But four days to Oscars, we agreed and I was able to put together the look everyone is now talking about.
It was all about putting together a simple Ankara look and in the short time available, I was able to make something they liked,” Neomi told Pulse.
Asked how much it is worth, she said a gown of that size usually goes for between Sh15,000 and Sh40,000 depending on the fabric and details in the design.
“I'm getting calls from all over and I have to keep up to meet the demand,” she added.
