Former news anchor Doreen Gatwiri has accused her husband and Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi of physically assaulting her on the night of 26th February at their Karen home.
Gatwiri, a former anchor at Ebru TV expressed fear for her life stating that she sustained injuries on her head and back of her ear, resulting in her left ear going numb.
“Writing this with a lot of fear. My life is in danger. This evening at about 9.50pm my husband Mwingi Central Member Of Parliament Gideon Mulyungi assaulted me at our Karen Home and I sustained head injuries at the back of my ear resulting to my left ear going numb” posted Gatwiri on her Twitter page.
She reported the matter to Hardy Police Station under OB number 36, pointing out that he has assaulted her several times before.
“I managed to report the matter at Hardy Police Station. I fear for my life because he always threatened me that I really don’t know who he is. This assault is not the first or second time. I did it to protect my home and his anger condition. Please help” she stated.
Insulting President Uhuru
This is not the first the legislator has courted controversy.
In 2017, armed officers from Mwingi Police Station raided his home, seeking to arrest him in relation to inciting remarks he reportedly made which were construed as an insult to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“What is he trying to show us? If he removed his trousers and I remove mine, you will realise that my manhood is bigger than his” Mulyungi stated at a rally in Kalundu market, Kitui town.
“He is not a special man,” added the deep-pocketed, trained architect.
The MP was unreachable for comment by the time of going to press.
