
Following a widely viewed interview on the life and tribulations of former KTN anchor Louis Otieno that has touched hearts, several personalities and wellwishers have started chipping in to assist the ailing journalist.
Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo is leading the way and has revealed that several Members of Parliament are concerned with Otieno’s wellbeing and are in the process of getting him assistance.
“Our attention has been brought to the plight of Louis Otieno, who was a top media personality in Kenya and we want to say that as concerned Members of Parliament that we are going to support him in whichever little way we can, so we are going to start an initiative to help the family and his friends who have come out to help,” said Odhiambo.
Narrating to KTN’s Mercy Korir, Otieno, a one-time celebrated journalist, said that his Acute Pancreatitis condition had taken a toll on him and his family.
He added that his condition has cost him friends and his phone that used to ring off the hook from highly placed people that he used to interview while at KTN, KBC, K24 and Citizen TV had disappeared.
Louis Otieno was one of the highest paid anchors of his time but his stellar career that spanned literally every top TV station in the republic came to screeching halt after he was named in a murder investigations involving a college student.
And as suddenly as he had appeared on the screen, Otieno disappeared before reports emerged that he had suffered an acute pancreatic infection that had crashed his hearing system and impaired his movements.
His hearing is now gone and is seeking help with well-wishers to raise Sh4 million for treatment.
The family says they have run out of money to pay his medical bills and thus opened a pay bill number for well-wishers to assist.The paybill number is Louis Armstrong Otieno 333957.
