5. Chris Adams
"Gentleman" Chris Adams, was an English professional wrestler, wrestling promoter and trainer.
On 7 October 2001, Chris, who trained Stone Cold Steve Austin and Scott Hall, was fatally shot in the chest.
Chris Adams was shot by his friend Brent "Booray" Parnell after a drunken brawl.
Parnell was acquitted of all charges after claiming it was in self-defence. According to Parnell, he and Chris had started ‘roughhousing’ with each other, and that he feared for his life moments before the fatal shooting.
4. Ultimate Warrior
Wrestling legend Jim Hellwig would be cursed with a family history that seemed destined to end his life early.
His father died at 57 and his grandfather died at 52 but that didn’t make it any less tragic when he passed away aged 54 on April 8, 2014.
After beating Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI, he became the first superstar ever to hold the the Intercontinental Championship and WWE Heavyweight Championship at the same time.
A day after his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 5th of 2014, he attended that year’s WrestleMania.
A day after that he appeared on Raw for the first time in almost 20 yerars and the following night he was dead after suffering a heart attack outside his hotel.
He might have seen death coming as he gave a cryptic speech stating “every man’s heart one day beats its final beat.”
3. Owen Hart
Owen Hart’s horrific death in 1999 remains etched in the minds of many WWE fans. While being lowered into the ring from the ceiling at the "Over the Edge '99 PPV in Kansas City, his harness broke and the Superstar fell from about 80 feet in the air.
The injuries sustained as he landed chest first were far too traumatic and he shortly succumbed to internal injuries.
The event went on as scheduled and fans in attendance did not find out what happened to Hart, but television viewers watching from home were told
2. Edddie Guerrero
Eddie Guerrero’s death came a shock to many as he was in his best shape at the time of his demise.
Famous for his entrance in lowrider cars, Guerrero battled with substance abuse that almost cost him his life, career, and family.
WWE sent him to rehab in 2001, and released him later that year after a drunk driving charge.
However, he bounced back and climbed all the way to the top, winning the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar in 2004.
In the morning of November 13, 2005 Guerrero was found dead due to heart failure aged 38. He was scheduled to wrestle for the championship later on that night.
1. Chris Benoit
A close friend of Eddie Guerrero’s nephew Chavo Guerrero, Chris Benoit’s death in 2007 was arguably the most shocking, shaking the WWE to the core. Benoit murdered his 7-year-old son and wife before hanging himself a day later.
Benoit suffocated his wife before using his trademark ring move Crippler Hold to kill his son.
Autopsy results showed that Benoit's wife was murdered first and his son killed as he lay in bed.
