A shrewd politician who is eyeing the presidency in 2022 seems not to be leaving anything to chance, to ensure that he bags the plum post.

For the last three months, the senior politician has been courting popular opposition Governors, with a promise to make each one his running-mate.

Grapevine understands that overtures have already been made to an outspoken Governor from the Coast and his counterpart from Western Kenya.

It will be interesting to see how the politician will extricate himself from an obvious fix, considering that he has dangled the same carrot to leaders from other regions.

Some people seem to have just been born lucky.

Some individuals were nominated to county executive committee or county chief officers, without applying for the posts in a county in the Rift Valley and another in Western region.

These people were not interviewed but they somehow landed the plum posts.

Grapevine expects civil society groups and Members of County Assembly (MCA) to rise to the occasion by shooting down the names of these ‘special breed’ of nominees.
