The cat is officially out of the bag and Keko is no longer whispering about her sexual preference. The Ugandan artist is shouting from the rooftop for all to hear that she is gay.
Punishable by life in prison, homosexuality was made illegal in 2014 in Uganda.
With that said, it is no wonder Keko came out of the closet while miles away in Canada where she is assured of her safety and rights.
‘’Thank you Canada for giving me a new home...I feel free like a new person it was a burden to live in a box and walk on egg shells.’’ She tweeted.
The self-declared queen of East Africa rapper had more to say and it was this revelation that had some berating her for being a shame to her home country while others congratulated her for taking the bold step.
‘’My gay ass is free yes free and there will be a wedding you best believe.’’ She went on.
A Tororo native she made her mark in Kenya after dropping the club banger ‘Make You Dance’ in 2012.
But she would go on to have a very public career meltdown in 2014 that saw her get involved in alcohol and weed. In a recent interview she revealed that her crush was brought about by relationship and music issues.
After receiving therapy from a rehab she bounced back and released an album titled ‘Strides.’
Keko a tomboy from childhood is studying film in Toronto where she is now living.
