A fire has broken out at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium, witnesses have said.
Smoke can be seen coming from the ground's South Stand with witnesses reporting alarms going off.
Emergency services are thought to be on their way to the scene.
Twitter user Sarah Louise Feeney posted a picture of smoke coming from the ground.
She wrote: "Fire at Old Trafford in South Stand. Fire alarm going off since 7am and smoke!"
Another Twitter user wrote: "Is there fire at Old Trafford coz the sirens are blaring and we see smoke?"
The fire service has now confirmed it is at the ground attempting to put out the blaze.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, it is thought a faulty lift motor caused the fire.
It is not yet known the extent of any damage caused.
The club has been contacted for comment.
Old Trafford is the largest ground in UK football, with a seating capacity of 75,643.
It has been home to Manchester United since 1910 and has gone through extensive remodelling since.
The stadium was built by architect Archibald Leitch in 1909, costing Sh 9,000,000 to construct.
In May 2015, a small fire sent smoke billowing into the air at the stadium.
The smouldering waste caused a tower of dark fumes to rise over the incident during rush-hour, but firefighters took just a few minutes to extinguish the flames, reports Manchester Evening News.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that three crews from Stretford and the surrounding the area were scrambled to the incident, which was first reported as a building fire.
When the emergency teams arrived, it was found to be a pile of burning rubbish causing the smoke.
They were called to the scene at 8.30am, extinguished the flames and left within 15 minutes.
