The son of Royal Media Services mogul S K Macharia was on Monday charged before a Nairobi traffic court after failing to follow a traffic officer's order to blow into a breathalyser.
John Macharia was accused of failing to follow the directions of a traffic officer on Saturday.
He had been driving on Waiyaki Way when his Porsche 911 Turbo S. 2016 car, reportedly worth over Sh30 million, crashed into a Prado that was ahead of him.
It is alleged that he was driving under the influence. He had been released on bond ahead of his appearance in court, where he pleaded guilty through his lawyer Ian Maina.
Maina said his client was remorseful for his actions and would not repeat the offence.
Senior resident magistrate Electra Rianyi gave him with a fine of Sh25,000. When he went to pick the car from Central Police station, the incident attracted a huge crowd that wanted to have a glimpse of the posh car.
Police said they did not know where Macharia was going during the accident. The car is one of few in the country.
