An ex-special forces turned deadbeat mercenary, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) undergoes an experimental terminal cancer treatment that goes south. He not only gets cured, but also acquires accelerated healing ability and leaves him with a face only a mother could tolerate. Above all else it turns him into a violent superhero with a dark and twisted sense of humour. Armed with these qualities and a red suit, he adopts the alter ego ‘deadpool’ and goes on a quest for Ajax, the person who ruined his life.

A few movies pack the amount of violence and ludicrous self-mockery that you experience in Deadpool. A humorous psychopath with a scarred face, this character has set his own bar as far as comic book films go. Ryan Reynolds embodied the whole thing. The film takes one back and forth between flashbacks that reveals his super charming and electric relationship with Vanessa, before he got the red suit. Ryan Reynolds constantly talks to the audience with some kind of demented commentary, allowing one to connect with his character and keep you at the edge of your seat, amid the self-mockery and wicked humour. Ed skriel - the antagonist portrays the character of a British bad guy and a scientist, and does justice to his role. You hate him throughout the movie. The fighting scenes are epic and the one-liners will crack you up. Ryan Reynolds has done the best work of his career, giving life to the otherwise rather unlikable deadpool of the comic book. Topping this will be a tough task by the franchise.
Thumbs Down
The point where the third act falls flat and the short-changed female roles would make the minor flaws of the movie. Vanessa made a major entrance, but her role was reduced to that of a damsel in distress. Gina Carano had no proper dialogue and this did not help her case.
Verdict
If you have a sense of humour, love superheroes, or action movies, this is for you.
