Singer Wahu Kagwi has composed a patriotic poem for Kenya.

Wahu posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram account to show how much she values her country despite the security challenges facing Kenya

“Kenya, my love, the land in which I was born. The land in which I shall one day be buried. I cherish you. Who can compete with you in beauty?” reads her post in part.

Following the recent terrorist attack that happened at Garissa University which left 147 dead, the talented music composer has expressed her faith in the country and how Kenya will not cowardly surrender to her enemies.

“When your enemies look upon you, they are in awe. They turn green with envy at how blessed and glorious you are. We have seen them try to break you, by hurting those you treasure most. We have seen them try to kill your spirit, by taking the precious lives of your beloved children. We mourn for them. We weep for the brothers and sisters that we have lost to cowardly acts of terror, and we live in the hope that we shall one day see them again.”

The ‘Sweet Love’ singer concludes her post with words that express confidence, conviction and pride saying, “Because they have made you weep, my beloved Kenya, they think they are strong? They are wrong. You are stronger! You are mightier! You are better! We stand tall, and proudly proclaim that yes! We are Kenyan! We are Kenya. They can break our hearts, but they will never break our spirit!”

Her followers have been touched by the message; many have seconded Mrs Mathenge sentiments:

Mercycal: That is a moving message, Wahu. Yes, Kenya is stronger, and we are one.

Nyambura: That’s a powerful message, Wahu.

Ms. Matete: That’s very deep

Pcheruu: Aaaw! My motherland be stronger!
