BBC bosses have announced that a planned Top Gear tour featuring Jeremy Clarkson WILL go ahead - but with the show’s name changed after he was axed from the show.

In a statement, BBC Worldwide, in charge of the BBC’s commercial business around the world, announced dates in Australia and Norway would be rescheduled but would still take place.

Instead of being called Top Gear Live, the show will now be known as Clarkson, Hammond and May Live.

A statement from BBC Worldwide said: “So as not to disappoint the thousands of people around the world who have already purchased tickets,BBC Worldwide has agreed with our joint venture partner Brand Events that the remainder of the tour can continue. These events will not however feature any BBC Top Gear branding or content. We believe this is a sensible approach in the circumstances.”

The spokesman went on to say a decision has also been made to reschedule the Festival planned for Sydney in April until July of this year and will instead become an indoor arena show staged in both Melbourne on 18-19 July and Sydney on 25 -26 July.

The live shows that were due to have taken place in Stavanger, Norway last weekend have been re-scheduled to 20-21 June. For UK fans, dates in Belfast, Sheffield and London will also go ahead in May, June and November.

Organisers Brand Events added: “This is a great solution for the fans. We’d like to thank our ticket holders for their continued patience. The fans are the most important people to Jeremy, Richard and James so we’re delighted to be able to say ‘we’re still coming’. We’re sure it’ll be something you won’t want to miss.”

The Top Gear live shows are a different kettle of fish - run by the worldwide branch of the BBC.

And the rider is wild, according to the Star, the backstage list for Mr Clarkson and his co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond includes 20 bottles of wine, 24 bottles of beer, champagne and Bombay Sapphire gin.

The middle-aged men have also requested a PS3, DVD players, scrabble, steak knives, cigarettes and a nearby McDonalds. Yes, really.

A source told the paper: "All three presenters have their eclectic tastes and they all know what they want.

"Jeremy is very into his rose and very particular about getting exactly the right type of wine -it's fair to say he can be a little bit of a prima donna."

We'd never have guessed.
