The all-star comedy cast from the 2010 hit Grown Ups return for a sequel, and this time round, the foursome are not on a family holiday, and instead they are dealing with different family life drama.
The sequel finds when Lenny (Adam Sandler) the leader of the foursome which includes Kevin James, Chris Rock and David Spade, has relocated his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. The film then follows the four best friends over a single day as the quartet plans a 1980s-themed summer party.
Additionally in between the main story are four individual subplots that delve into the different personal situations the best friends are dealing with. Kurt (Chris Rock) is coming to terms with the fact that his wife did not remember their anniversary, Lenny’s (Adam Sandler) wife Roxanne played by Salma Hayek wants another baby; while Eric (Kevin James) is having mother-wife issues and thus feels the need to hide his frequent trips to his mother’s house from his wife; and Marcus (David Spade) finds out he fathered a son, who happens to be a teenage thug.
Thumbs Down
It is a jumbled up hot mess; there are too many stories that are all over the place and the editing does not help one bit. Further the script is lazy; the performances are also very lazy, you expect more from such renowned comedians. When it comes to comedy, the film also falls flat on many occasions, not a hard feat to accomplish especially if all your jokes are mainly toilet type jokes that revolve around vomiting and farting.
Thumbs Up It has some funny moments.
VerdictIf you find it absolutely hilarious just simply looking at Adam Sadler, Kevin James, Chris Rock and David Spade, they don’t have to do anything funny, then by all means book a date.
