Sauti Sol’s Polycarp Otieno marries long-term girlfriend

It was a blend of cultures as African drum beats sounded the break of a new day in Bujumbura, Burundi, where Sauti Sol’s Polycarp Otieno  aka Fancy Fingers wed his lover of many years, Lady Mandy, over the weekend.

The leading Kenyan band’s producer, composer and guitarist, and the stylist who has been working with top names in the Kenyan entertainment industry brought Bujumbura to a standstill as the five-year affair became official, with the two being pronounced man and wife.

Wearing traditional Burundian outfits, the Kenyan boy-band members Bien-Aimé Baraza (songwriter, guitarist and pianist), Willis Austin Chimano (baritone and singer) and Savara Mudigi (vocalist, producer and guitarist) joined one of their own at the glamorous affair also attended by a number of Kenyan celebs and close friends- besides Fancy Fingers’ family members.

The group’s former publicist and showbiz personality Anyiko Owoko was first to break the news on social media.

“Do I need to say more? Congrats to @itsmefancyfingers & @iamladymandy for making it official via Burundian traditional customs. I’ve never been at a more wonderful ceremony. Wish you two nothing but everlasting love and light,” she posted.

Grand weddings

It was a weekend of grand weddings that also saw Samburu West Member of Parliament Naisula Lesuuda marry her fiancé in a colourful traditional ceremony attended by the country’s political who’s-who.

And in Redhill, Limuru, hundreds converged to witness the wedding of two young doctors - Morris Kitua and Stella Mweu.

Both come from prominent families in Ukambani region. Morris is the son of Johnston Kitua, a valuation and estate management surveyor, while Stella is the daughter of Andrew Mweu, a preacher.
