Police are seeking stylish Harambee Stars’ midfielder Jamal Mohamed for reportedly assaulting a city lawyer, who allegedly lost his tooth in the attack in Nairobi.
The lawyer, Job Kimeru, claims he was assaulted by Jamal ‘Malo’ on August 23 2014 before recording a statement at Parklands Police Station. In the statement, Kimeru says he was driving his Toyota Mark II in the company of DJ Julius Cheche along Woodvale Grove Westlands in Nairobi when he was blocked by another car, a black Toyota Mark X as he was about to get into the restaurant next to the road.
Kimeru says he asked to be given way, but instead, ‘Malo’ refused, got out of the car and after a brief confrontation “punched me on my head. I switched off my car and got out. The street boys who saw the scenario told me that the said person took my phone. I then asked him to return my phone but he started punching me on my face several times,” reads Kimeru’s statement.
Kimeru adds in the statement: “In the incident, I lost one of my upper front incisor tooth, my specs too were damaged. I also sustained injuries on my right eye.”
During the incident, Kimeru’s friend, Jeisley, identified the attacker as ‘Malo’ (Jamal Mohammed), the Harambee Stars player.
Kimeru, who later went to seek medical attention, says in his statement to the police, which he recorded after the police surgeon at Nairobi Area examined the degree of injuries and classified them as “grievous harm.” The Police say that for close to one year, getting hold of ‘Malo’ has been a nightmare and all attempts to have the soccer star record statements with the police have failed to yield any fruits. According to the law enforcers, the former Mathare United player has allegedly been out of the country on official duty and has never returned since then.
“We have made numerous trips to his suspected residence in vain, his brother keeps taking us in round circles. We would like to appeal to the public to help us reign in on this stubborn footballer,” said one of the cops handling the case at Parklands. Attempts by to interview the talented footballer were thwarted by his close friends and relatives who did not want to reveal his whereabouts. The Nairobian even visited a popular Shisha joint in Carlifonia estate; Nairobi where his close associates said that Jamal only visits late in the evening.
