Kanja triumphs in Sigona's Captain's Prize tournament

After an exciting series of well-sponsored tournaments, the curtains were drawn on the Sigona Captain Pratik Sanghrajka's 2024 season, which concluded with a glamorous presentation ceremony at the premier golf club in Kiambu.

The event, marked by an all-white dress code, showcased opulence and elegance.Numerous speakers praised Pratik as a true pillar of the club, highlighting his unwavering commitment and passion that significantly elevated the stature of the game within the golfing community.

Under his captaincy, the Junior section experienced notable growth, culminating in a historic victory at the prestigious Tannahill Shield held at Royal Nairobi Golf Club.

The Junior team received stylish golf career bags in recognition of their outstanding performance. Pratik leaves behind a strong Junior program, nurturing a promising generation of young golfers ready to make their mark both locally and internationally.Currently, Sigona is ranked 10th in the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) standings among 27 participating clubs.

The evening also celebrated the golf administration team, who were awarded return air tickets and accommodation in Mombasa as a token of appreciation for their efforts.On the course, Solomon Kanja scored an impressive 37 differential points to claim the Captain's prize, outshining 439 golfers who took part in the two-day tournament."My strategy was simple: I always aimed to play against the course by hitting the greens in regulation. That was the key to securing this win," Kanja shared.

Kamal Sehmi followed closely, finishing as the Overall second - prize winner with a score of 37 differential points. Nihal Shah claimed the third prize with 38 differential points. Miq Assaria and Junaid Manji secured fourth and fifth places, respectively.The Overall past Captain was Rajeev Mediratta, who recorded 42 differential points. Paul Wanjohi emerged as the Overall board winner with a score of 43 differential points.In the guest category, Brian Kimeu won the Men’s prize with a differential score of 52 points. Rima Patel was recognized as the best in the Ladies' category, having posted 41 differential points. Leading the Junior competition was Aruush Vara, who carded 39 differential points, while Hanif Tayebjee took home the Gross prize with a total score of 154.Overall, it was a memorable event that celebrated the achievements and dedication of the golfers at Sigona.
