The first heat of the Absolut Mixology challenge dubbed ‘Mix It Up’ with Absolut kicked off at Aqua Blu, Westlands Nairobi.
15 contestants were shortlisted having represented a number of outlets which are Sankara, DusitD2, Fairmount The Norfolk, Mercury Lounge, Brew Bistro, Galileo and Aqueous among others. The panel includes mixologist Adam Wilson, Idah Wakonyo, F&B Manager Sierra Brasserie and Yvonne Gacheru of Jer Cocktails.
The winner gets a cash prize of Sh100, 000 as well as a fully paid trip to train with the best at the Absolut Vodka headquarters in Sweden. The runner up and third place winners receive Ksh50, 000 and Ksh25, 000 cash prize respectively.
This is the first of two heats which will be crowned off by the finals later in November while the second heat will be on the 21st October at Sierra Brasserie in Yaya Center from 9.30 am - 3pm.
