The prime suspect in the death of Bongo movie star, Stephen Kanumba, was among the artistes awarded at the African Magic Movie Awards on March 5.
Elizabeth Michael Lulu who was Kanumba’s lover at the time of his death, stamped her authority on continental movie industry through her movie, Mapenzi, which was named the Best Eastern Africa Movie.
“Thanks Almighty God for providing me with the opportunity to win. I also thank my fans, the entire fraternity of Bongo movie industry and my family for the support. I am glad we have made it,” said a tearful Lulu after receiving her award.
Lulu shot into the limelight when she was charged for involuntarily killing Kanumba. According to a statement she made then, she pushed Kanumba while trying to defend herself from him. Apparently, her late flame tried to slap her, but fell and hit his head.
The death of the star shocked the film industry.
