A woman moved a Kisii court to tears after she narrated how a gang of four men burnt her mother to death claiming she was a witch. Rael Osebe Mokua, who was too emotional, claimed that her mother was heading to the farm when Dennis Aswere, Amos Bichanga,Ben Bichanga and John Oseko followed her to their home and set her ablaze.

She claimed that on the fateful day, June 25, 2014, she had gone to visit her mother in their village at Nyangiti, Nyamonema sub-location, Gucha south sub-county.

At around 6.30am, the deceased is said to have gone to her shamba but returned rushing home an hour later, claiming that some people were chasing her.

Mokua claimed that a crowd came to their compound led by the four accused men, baying for her mother’s blood. They claimed she had bewitched a schoolboy and were on a revenge mission.

According to police records, they set the woman on fire despite Mokua’s pleas. The four men were charged and their case will be heard at a later day pending investigations.
