Is Singer Jaguar headed for Starehe parliamentary seat?

Musician Charles Kanyi aka Jaguar may be headed for politics.

This comes after his close ally George Mwangangi claimed that the Kigeugeu singer wanted to try his hands in politics in 2017.

According to Mwangangi, popularly known as Mongolo, Jaguar intended to run for Starehe the Constituency seat currently occupied by Maina Kamanda.

The hint came last Sunday at the PCEA Thirime church in Kikuyu when Jaguar gave a retired headteacher, Evanson Ndungu Gathigu, a Toyota Rav4 car worth over Sh1million as a gift. Mwangagi, a former Ziwani councillor, had accompanied Jaguar to the event.

According to Jaguar, this was a small token of appreciation to the teacger for allowing him to join Magutuini Primary School in 1995, which Ndungu headed at that time.

Although Jaguar have avoided politics, Mongolo, who spoke first before introducing Jaguar, revealed that it was time the youth took over the leadership of this country and the wazee go retired.

“We love our wazee, but we want them to retire peacefully and let the youth assist them with work,” he said. Mongolo took a swipe at Kamanda, saying he is older than Jaguar’s father.

“I have accompanied him (Jaguar) across the world during his music concerts and many youth came to him seeking motivation and inspiration.”

Mongolo asked the church to not only declare him the best parliamentary candidate for Starehe, but also pray for his candidature.
