Man marries his cell phone in a church wedding

Counties

Last month, one Aaron Chervenak, an American, took the love for his smartphone to the next level by, get this, marrying it in a church wedding. And yeah, in case you’re wondering, he even put a ring on it!

The bizarre wedding perhaps gives credence to a study conducted by Kaspersky — an internet security giant, which found that a quarter of people ranked their smartphone as more or equally important to them as their parents. Come to think of it, for most people their phone is with them 24/7; it’s the last thing they interact with before going to sleep and the first thing they check when we wake up. It’s one of the items most people connect with on so many levels.

“We look to it for solace, to calm us down, to put us to sleep, to ease our mind, and to me that’s also what a relationship is about,” Aaron Chervenak said. “So in a sense, my smartphone has been my longest relationship. That’s why I decided to see what it was like to actually marry a phone.” Interestingly, knowing how orthodox the ceremony was going to be, the crazy mzungu had to go to the place where bizarre weddings happen all the time – Las Vegas.

Surprisingly, the pastor was not only okay with the idea, but genuinely excited. Like it happens in most weddings, Aaron put on his tuxedo, took his phone and drove to the church in his purple Cadillac to get married. The wedding ceremony was small but very emotional, and you could see the groom was a bit nervous when saying his vows and putting the ring on the phone.

“What I hope my wedding will do is to somehow act as a symbolic gesture to show just how precious our phones are becoming in our daily lives,” Chervenak said.
