If there is one moment that every single woman daydreams about, it is a big wedding. In their minds, they see themselves walking down the isle of the biggest church in town and later on, jumping into a magnificent horse drawn carriage and disappearing for honeymoon in the Ngong Hills, which was recently voted the most romantic site in the world by Travelzoo.
Believe me, there are women out there who have ended up losing great men simply because the poor guys couldn’t afford to splash out on the most extravagant wedding that would leave her girlfriends going green with envy, and the village talking for years.
Dream wedding
The idea of a dream wedding has also caused some women to lose all common sense to the point of literally forcing a man to take a loan to pay for it. Never mind the couple could be living in single room in a dingy, crime prone estate, where she expects to go back to after blowing borrowed millions on a honeymoon!
Some of these women go further and invite old friends that they haven’t spoken to in years to harambees before they even begin making wedding arrangements.
Reasonable women
However, there a few exceptions who always makes you recognise that indeed not all women are unreasonable with their outrageous wedding demands. Kudos to all the reasonable women out there.
Just in case you did not hear or read about it, TV personality Janet Mbugua and Eddie Ndichu reportedly made their union official on October 18 through a customary union.
In a press report several days to the occasion, the invite card apparently indicated that the event was to be held at Janet’s parents’ home in Nyali, Mombasa.
Part of the invite read: “Janet Mbugua and Eddie Ndichu cordially invite you for lunch at the home of Janet’s parents to offer customary blessings for their union.”
How many bachelors wish more single women would consider customary unions instead of the usual stressful white weddings.
Indeed, it is time we retraced our steps back to our African roots. Believe me, there is nothing more enjoyable than a traditional wedding.
One thing, it is easy to arrange since there are not too many logistics involved. And more importantly, it’s pocket friendly, and would save the couple the burden of being in debt.
