Traders operating around Githurai 45 roundabout have been driven out.
Police and askaris on November 22, evicted them sparing no one.
They later fenced the roundabout and planted trees.
This comes after a Githurai bus rammed into traders on November 19. The accident left four dead and several injured.
Residents who spoke to The Nairobian said the move was long overdue.
“Our safety should come first. We cannot comprise it for money. I hope the askaris will keep doing this,” Peter Kamau, a resident said.
However, some traders are not happy. “The problem is not us, but we are the ones affected. See now we don’t have a place to operate from,” lamented a trader. The police are manning the area 24-hours.
