It is said that life is a continuous search for a cause to live or die for; to be governed by thoughts and dreams which is propelled by a concealed urge to achieve or accomplish something of worth or be great. It is an unconscious and automatic nagging feeling that tugs one pointing to much more out there. To be an achiever, you need to cultivate the important ingredient of faith.
Faith is to Christian life what the main spring is to a watch! We exercise faith every day whether we know it or not. For example, when you take a seat, you have faith that it will hold you. When you mail a letter, you have faith that the postal service will deliver it to the designated address.
Faith is normally expressed in the spiritual realm by each one of us regardless of our background, religion, or social status. The difference between the faith we exercise in our daily activities and the Christian faith is the object of that faith. In the first case, it is based on what we do whereas in the second case, it is based on the Word of God and his promises.
When you have faith you are confident that something will happen; and you have the conviction or evidence - an inward trait that enables you to be certain about things not visible in the physical. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen; for by it the elders obtained a good testimony" (Hebrews 11:1-2).Having faith has many benefits for a Christian.
First, it determines what God will do in your life.
According to your faith, it will be done unto you. There are over 7,000 promises in the Bible and faith is the key to unlock them. Faith gives you the privilege to determine the kind of blessings you will attract in your life.
Second, it can solve impossible problems for you.
"Jesus said to them, because of your unbelief; for assuredly I say to you, if you have faith as a Mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it will move; nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20). A little faith is all it takes for God to change that difficult situation you are in.
Third, it is the key to answered prayers.
"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you have received them; and you will have them" (Mark 11:24). Your faith precedes receiving.
Fourth, it is the secret to achieving anything.
"Jesus said to him if you can believe; all things are possible to him who believes" (Mark 9:23). This includes healing, promotion, career, education, finance, success, etc. Faith brings things into reality and gives you the confidence to move forward. The American-German aerospace engineer Werner Von Braun says, "There has never been a single great achievement in history without faith."
Fifth, it is the basis of miracles.
The life and ministry of Jesus were characterised by astounding miracles that changed the world forever. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father" (John 14:12).
Sixth, it is the key to winning.
Winners believe in advance that they will win and for sure it becomes a reality. Two people can have the same training and skill yet one succeeds and the other fails in life. The reason lies in their individual belief system and conviction that God will cause him/her to succeed.
Seven, it covers everything
And anything that is not done in faith is a sin. This means for example, that even when you drive your car, if you do not have faith that it will take you safely to your destination; there are high chances of having an accident. The Bible assures us that, "You will tread upon the lion and cobra and trample them underfoot; when you drink poison it will not hurt you; and you will place your hands on the sick and they will get well."
Eight, it is the only way to please God.
Without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently seek him. As a parent, you too would not be pleased if your child has no faith and trust in you.
Nine, faith is the only way to survive and succeed in life.
"For whoever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith." (1st John 5:4)
Finally, it neutralizes fear.
Faith gives you the confidence to press and move on eventually producing a successful living. Faith is an indispensable element in Christian living.
