Are you in need of a miracle?

BLOGS

There are situations that can only be resolved by a miracle. Today, I come to you fully aware that some of you need a miracle in your marriage, relationships, finances, health, career/jobs, home, etc. A miracle is an act of God, an event that appears amazing, and extraordinary, and occurs unexpectedly.

An encounter is recorded in the book of Chronicles where the Moabites, Ammonites, and Mount Seir had come to battle against Jehoshaphat the King of Judah. The King was afraid and proclaimed a fast throughout Judah to seek the Lord's guidance.

Jehoshaphat prayed to remind God of his interventions in the past saying, "O Lord of our fathers, are you not God in heaven; do you not rule over all kingdoms of the nations; and in your hand, there is no power and might so that no one can withstand you?

"Are you not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel; and gave it to the descendants of Abraham your friend forever?

And they dwelt in it and have built you a sanctuary in it for your name saying: if disaster comes upon us - sword, judgment, pestilence or famine - we will stand before this temple and in your presence and cry out to you in their affliction and you will hear and save us" (2 Chronicles 20:6-9).

Now the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir are here rewarding us by coming to throw us out of the possession you gave us to inherit. O our God will you not judge them? We have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon you. And all of Judah and their children stood before the Lord.

Then in the middle of the assembly, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel, a Levite and he said, "Listen, all of you Judah, Jerusalem, and you King Jehoshaphat! The Lord says, do not be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's. Tomorrow goes against them. You will not need to fight in this battle. He instructed them to go against them the next day but they will not need to fight in the battle. Position yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you" (2nd Chronicles 20:15-17).

Jehoshaphat had resisted idolatry and removed the high places and grounds in which the people of Judah burnt incense to idols. He brought reforms to the justice system and put Levites, priests, and head fathers in their place of authority.

You may feel like people are conspiring and ganging up against you - everything is going wrong at home, work, health-wise, finances, etc. Just like Judah, do not be intimidated by the enemy. You can take several steps toward your miracle. First, get in tune with God by inquiring about his perspective or viewpoint on the situation.

When Jehoshaphat was told that these armies were coming to attack Judah, he sought the Lord on what to do.

Second, pray about the issue by worshiping and exalting God in his majesty; remind yourself of his past deeds in your life; and ask him to do it for you again.

Third, admit your need for help because as a human being, you are limited in many ways. Be honest and confess your inadequacies in handling the matter without the help of God.

Fourth, focus on God and not on the impossibility of the issue. Elisha prayed to God and asked him to open the eyes of a young man that he may see and the Lord did it (2nd Kings 6:18). We move toward what we focus on!

Fifth, know that you will not need to fight in this battle. Instead, position yourself, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord because the battle is his. Many times we fight battles that belong to God yet he has instructed us not to be afraid or dismayed.

Sixth, praise and thank God in advance. Judah sang praises to God saying, "Give thanks to the Lord for his love endures forever." With the enemy on the opposite side, Jehoshaphat laid down the plan: the choir was set in front of the army to sing songs of praise and thanksgiving as they advanced toward the enemy armies. They were thanking God in advance for the expected victory. Praise is verbalized faith.

The Lord set ambushes against the enemy armies: the Ammonites and Moabites ganged up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir and destroy one another!

So when Judah came to the place overlooking the wilderness, they saw the dead bodies of the enemy armies. No one had escaped. They took away their spoiled valuables and precious jewelry for three days because there was so much. On the fourth day, they assembled in the Valley of Berachah and blessed the Lord there. After the miracle, do not forget to go back to the Lord and give thanks!
