Literally meaning ‘nine nights,’ Navratri is one of the most celebrated festivals among the Hindus.
The festival, which was marked on September 25, commemorates the goddess Durga who symbolises purity and power.
Prayers and fasting is observed for the nine nights, which is accompanied by traditional music and dance throughout the nights.
This year, Hindus congregated in beautiful Indian attires to dance the night away.
“It is the most fun festival! We wear traditional attires and spend time with friends and family celebrating. Fasting for the nine days also gives a feeling of purity,” said Priyal Gopal who attended the festival at the Jalaram Temple in Westlands.
