Millie Odhiambo spills the beans on why Ruto didn't marry her

Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo was speaking during a past function in Homa Bay (James Omoro, Standard) Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has revealed the reason why President William Ruto did not marry her. This came after it emerged that Millie and President Ruto were classmates. The two were students of the University of Nairobi one time during their youth. At that time, they were viewing each other as mere students who were pursuing where preparing to pursue their careers. They were oblivious to what the future held for each of them. Millie did not know that Ruto would one day become the President. On the other hand, Ruto too did not know that Millie would become a Member of Parliament. Some years later, the two met in Parliament for the first time between 2008 and 2013, when Ruto was the MP for Eldoret North and Millie was nominated MP. Both of them were members of the ODM party headed by Raila Odinga. The two leaders have a long history of working as political friends under the ODM party. But they also have a history of being political enemies after Ruto quit ODM ahead of the 2013 General election and joined former President Uhuru Kenyatta in the Jubilee party. Their enmity was evident during presidential votes tallying at Bomas of Kenya, where Millie was one of the leaders who were agitating against Ruto's victory after the 2022 General election. After being sworn in as president, Millie could hardly attend any rally convened by President Ruto because they had political differences. Millie would be seen castigating Ruto and his leadership on several occasions. She accused Ruto of being a liar and compared his qualities to those of a bra that can mislead a man on the nature of a woman's breasts. However, the new collaboration between Raila and Ruto has improved relations between Millie and Ruto. During Ruto's tour of Homa Bay County, Millie was among the MPs who received him. Millie is married to Magugu Mabona, a citizen of Zimbabwe. However, she said that if Ruto acted smartly at that time, she would not have been married in Zimbabwe. The good relations between the two leaders seemed to have become better to a level that Millie reminisced about why Ruto did not marry her. Speaking during Ruto's tour in Homa Bay Town and Magunga Township, Millie explained that Ruto is a leader with whom she had a long history from the time when they were students. "I tell the people of Homa Bay that I have a long history with President Ruto. He was my classmate and we shared a lot with him that time in the university," Millie said. However, she argues that if Ruto acted more smartly at that time, she would not have been married in Zimbabwe. She described herself as a beautiful woman whom Ruto should not have let go "Jothrwa, adwakonou ni President ni ne nindo e klas. Gimo miyo awacho ni ne ononindo e klas en ni newamiel kode ndi a university to kata kamano nyako ma jaber kama noweyo ma ok oanguka nayo (Our people, I want to tell you that we danced a lot with the President when we were in the university but he was dozing in class and that is why this beautiful lady slipped from his hands)," Millie said in Dholuo. Ruto did not respond to her comments when he went to the podium to speak during the ceremony. However, the National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wa responded that he was ready to be in a relationship with Millie to unite Kenyans. "Your Excellency President, Millie has said in the vernacular language that you were her classmate but you dozed in class and that is why you did not marry her. Being that I am in parliament with Millie, I ask the people of Homa Bay that can I be in love with her for uniting Kenyans?" Ichung'wa asked.
