Some of the artistes whose songs feature on our 2018 bangers list.

Short N Sweet- Sautisol ft Nyashinski

Being a collaboration between two of Kenya’s leading musical brands, the song did not disappoint.

From the danceable beats, catchy hook, cool dance moves that propelled Agy ‘The Dance Queen’ to fame, this track certainly deserves a spot in this list.

Earlier this month, the song scooped Sautisol and Nyashinski the ‘Best Collaboration of the Year’ award at the fourth Pulse Music Video Awards (PMVAs).

The song has thus far garnered 11.2 million YouTube views.

2 in 1- Naiboi

Naiboi, formerly Rapdamu, has recently been on a roll and it seems the possibilities are endless for the singer-cum producer.

The brains behind Pacho Entertainment, he released 2 in 1 three months ago.

The song, which has a unique video concept featuring several Kenyan personalities has been watched over 2 million times on YouTube.

Si Beiby now we’re 2 in 1… (I bet can you hear the tune).

Lamba Lolo- Ethic Entertainment

Once released, the song by teenage sensation Ethic Entertainment swept the airwaves like wildfire, turning the little-known group into overnight celebrities.

The phrase spread so far that South African rapper Nasty C used it to hit back at a social media user while Nigeria’s Mr Eazi featured it in his hit single Keys To The City (Ogede).

After briefly being pulled down from YouTube following a legal battle with their manager, the song was re-uploaded and has 2.8 million views.

Dundaing- King Kaka ft Kristoff and Magix Enga

Released barely two months ago, Dundaing is the first single off King Kaka’s album Eastlando Royalty.

Currently ruling the airwaves, the song scooped King Kaka ‘Male Video of the Year’ and ‘Viewer’s Choice’ awards at the 2018 PMVAs.

It’s been a great year for the Kaka Empire boss who started out as a spoken word artiste, rising to a global brand from Kaloleni, Nairobi.

Dundaing has raked over 1.2 million YouTube views.

Bebi Bebi- Nyashinski

You never know what Nyashinski is releasing next. From hard-hitting rap verses, socially conscious songs to heart warming love songs, Nyash is arguably Kenya’s most versatile musician.

No other Kenyan artiste has mastered the art of singing and rapping as Nyashinski with audiences always eager for new projects from the former Kleptomaniax group member.

Bebi Bebi was an instant hit with Kenyans having viewed it 3.3 million times on YouTube.

Octopizzo - Noma Ni

Despite controversy and accusations of buying YouTube views, Kibera’s finest held his own this year, bringing his laid-back rap style to Noma Ni.

The trap beat coupled with Octo’s gruff voice definitely did the track justice.

Noma Ni has 2.1 million YouTube views.

Kasayole: Timmy Tdat ft Khaligraph Jones

This list wouldn’t be complete without this hit as Khaligraph Jones and Timmy came out representing their respective hoods.

Khali’s flow, Timmy’s hook coupled with a comic video staring Padi Wubonn took the song to another level.

It’s been a good year for Khaligraph Jones after scooping ‘Best Rap Act’ in the 2018 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).

Kasayole has amassed 1.3 million Youtube views thus far.

Vimbada: Moji Shortbabaa ft Jabidii

According to Moji Shortbabaa, Vimbada is slang that means mad energy and boy did the song live up to its name.

Featuring the 2018 Groove breakthrough artiste of the year Jabidii, the dance moves in this track are just over the top.

Therefore, it was no surprise when Vimbada, watched 1.8 million times on YouTube, won ‘Best Choreography’ of the year at the 2018 PMVAs.

Njiwa: Willy Paul and Nandy

Willy Paul received a lot of criticism after releasing Njiwa, which features secular Tanzanian singer Nandy.

In spite of negativity towards the song, it ended up being one of the biggest hits of 2018, garnering 7.2 million views on YouTube.

Fena Gitu - Sijaskia Vibaya Ft Njugush

Sijaskia Vibaya was quite an unorthodox collaboration, marking comedian Timothy ‘Njugush’ Kimani’s music debut and making Fena Gitu the only female artiste on our list.  Fena hhas consistently showcased her music skills with ‘Sema Ng’we’ and ‘Doing her thing tho’ but Sijaskia Vibaya remains her biggest hit this year with over 690K views.
