Nigerian singer Augustine Kelechi, popularly known by his stage name Tekno may not be able to sing again for a while.
This after the ‘Pana’ hit-maker temporarily damaged his voice box due to strain caused by performing excessively.
According to statement released by his management, Tekno was urged to take a break by doctors, hence his absence from the music industry.
“These past few days have been really trying times for your boy Tekno.
“He had tried to downplay the severity of his ailment hoping that it will be short lived but after further diagnoses doctor advised he should take time out to recover.
“His vocal cord is temporarily damaged due to strain from overtime performance and cannot sing or perform in a while.”
The statement urged fans to keep Tekno in their prayers, while promising new music from him
“Please put Tekno in your prayers. Nevertheless he also wants to reassure his fans that they have nothing to worry about as he has put in so much work so a lot of music will be released this period.
“Please send love and positive vibrations his way as this is a hard time for him” the statement read.
Hard time
Recently, Tekno reached out to fans via twitter revealing that he’s had a difficult time since the incident.
“It’s been very difficult for me!” he wrote.
