Tanzanian rapper Rashid Makwilo aka Chidi Benz has been arrested for possession of illegal drugs.
According to the police in charge of Dodoma Police Station Giless Muroto, the Bongo artist was arrested in the outskirts of Dodoma town in possession of illegal drugs.
Just last year, Benz was taken to rehab due to his addiction.
He has so far been arrested three times and at one time, he was apprehended alongside his and two other accomplices.
“Ni kweli Chidi Benz mnamo tarehe 30/12/2017, tulimkamata akiwa yeye na mke wake na vijana wawili. Tumemkamata akiwa na dawa za kulevya zidhaniwayo kuwa ni Heroine. Jalada lake lipo tayari kwa mwanasheria wa serikali linafanyiwa uchunguzi na muda wowote watapelekwa mahakamani,” the police commander said during an interview with Tanzanian media in 2017.
The rapper is currently under police custody awaiting conclusion of investigations.
At one time, he beat up singer Ray C when she tried talking him out of the drug problem.
