The Azimio la Umoja Coalition led by co-principal Martha Karua has raised concerns over the country's escalating number of plane crashes.
Their remarks come hours after a helicopter crash claimed the lives of 10 people including the Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla.
According to Karua, the government should overhaul every aircraft to avoid future accidents.
Further, a welfare fund should be established to support families and victims in case of a crash.
"As Azimio, we are deeply concerned that the KDF has had several other accidents in the last 12 months, including yesterday's. This must be thoroughly investigated," said Karua.
"We wish to ask the Ruto administration to consider the welfare of our disciplined forces and their families. We propose the establishment of a welfare fund as well as a complete overhaul of our aircrafts."
CDF General Francis Ogolla and ten other military officers were killed in a chopper crash yesterday at the Sindar area in Kaben, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
He will be buried at his home in Ngi’ya, Siaya County on Sunday, April 21, according to his wishes, the family said.
