3 dead in separate road accidents on Monday, January 8, 2024.[File ,standard]

Three people died and several others were injured in a series of road accidents that occurred across Kenya on Monday, January 8, 2024.

The first accident happened at around 6:40 a.m. on Isinya/Kitengela road in the Kisaju area, where a Toyota matatu and an Isuzu lorry collided.

The matatu driver was overtaking a stalled lorry when he lost control and hit the lorry's rear right, according to the officers from Isinya Police Station.

Two women and a man died on the spot, while the other passengers were rushed to various hospitals by well-wishers.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Shalom Hospital Mortuary for identification and autopsy.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident and the culpability of the drivers.

The second accident occurred at about 1:15 a.m. in the Tegero area along Narok-Bomet road, where a Toyota Hiace matatu belonging to Transcar Galaxy Sacco and a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry crashed head-on.

The matatu driver was killed instantly and 16 passengers were injured. The injured were taken to Narok County Referral Hospital for treatment.

The officers from Ololulunga Police Station are gathering evidence and statements from the witnesses.

The third accident was reported on January 6, 2024, at about 5:00 a.m. at the Mustard area along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway, where a Mercedes Benz trailer and three Isuzu motor vehicles rammed into each other.

One person died and several others were injured in the incident. The injured were taken to PGH Nakuru for medical attention, while the officers from Kaptembwa Police Station launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

The National Police Service has urged all motorists to be extra careful on the roads and follow the traffic rules and regulations to avoid such tragedies. The police also warned against speeding, overtaking, drunk driving, and other reckless behaviors that endanger the lives of road users.
