Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua got a reprieve after a court temporarily adjourned proceedings in the inquest of Governor Wahome Gakuru.
Nyeri Chief Magistrate Francis Adanyi directed the matter be adjourned until May 3 pending the outcome of an application lodged at the High Court by Mr Kahiga and Mr Gachagua for the revision of orders summoning them to testify in the inquest.
“We are unable to proceed with the hearing today. In the meantime, I direct the file to be returned to the High Court registry and a skeleton file be opened for the purposes of the proceeding at the lower court,” said Mr Adanyi.
The inquest before the lower court is inquiring into an accident in which Mr Gakuru died along the Kenol/Nairobi road at Makenji on November 7, 2017.
