A middle-aged man has been arrested for impersonating his father, who was to sit for the 2021 KCSE examinations at Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School in Busia.

Police say they were tipped off by the examination centre supervisor when the English Paper One test was ongoing.

“Police Officers from Busia Police Station guarding the English Paper one at Our Lady of Mercy Sec School were informed by the Centre Manager that there was a suspect who was impersonating a private candidate and writing the exam on his behalf,” police say.

The suspect, George Barasa Makokha, disclosed that he had been sent to write the exams on behalf of Josephat Basoga Makokha his father.

Sources close to the police have established that the suspect works as a county officer.

The police have since established that Basoga had registered to write the test as a private student.

Police are holding the suspect at Busia Police Station awaiting arraignment tomorrow morning.

He will be charged for the offence of intent to impersonate a registered candidate.
