Covid-19: Ministry vaccinates over 15m, records 37 new infections

Kenya has so far administered 15,236,700 Covid-19 vaccines across the country according to the Ministry of Health latest records.

Of these, 7,394,533 have been partially vaccinated while 6,943,531 have been fully vaccinated.

Another 674,951 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years while 223,685 are booster doses.

In the last 24 hours, the ministry administered 172, 985 vaccines across the country while the number of people fully vaccinated within the same period now stands at 69,218.

New infections

Kenya recorded 37 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 4,102 raising the country's caseload to 322,473.

In a statement on Sunday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 0.9 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 3,295,082.

Out of the new patients, 14 are female, whereas 23 are male, with the youngest carrier being a five-year-old child and the oldest aged 92.

Of the new cases, six are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.

Distribution

In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi County recorded 20 cases, Nakuru 4, Kisumu and Machakos 2 cases each, Kakamega, Kilifi, Kitui, Meru, Mombasa, Nyeri, Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu recorded 1 case each.

Kenya’s Covid-19 death toll rises to 5,631 after two deaths were reported from the virus in the last 24 hours.

Total recoveries now stand at 302,744 after 51 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours 121 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme and 16 from various health facilities in the country.

Of the total recoveries, 249,980 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 52,764 are from various hospitals countrywide.

Admitted

A total of 172 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 741 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

Four (4) patients are in the ICU three of them are on ventilatory support and one on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 38 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen35 of them in the general wards, while three patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
