Kenya has recorded 432 Covid-19 infections out of a sample size of 3,800 tested in the last 24 hours; a positivity rate of 11.4 per cent. The total confirmed cases are now 171,658 and cumulative tests so far are 1,822,216.

Kisumu County leads in Covid-19 cases today as 145 people test positive for the disease. Nairobi came in second with 52 new infections while Elgeyo Marakwet, Garissa, Laikipia, Machakos and Mandera counties all recorded one case each.

Out of the cases recorded today, 424 are Kenyans and eight are foreigners with 229 being males and 203 females.

Today, 306 patients have recovered — 217 from the Home Based and Isolation Care and 89 are from various health facilities.

Total recoveries stand at 117,345. Of these, 85,264 are from Home Based Care and Isolation while 32,081 are from various health facilities.

Seventeen (17 deaths have been recorded today. Two in the last 24 hours and 15 are late death reports from various facility record audits conducted on diverse dates in April. Cumulative fatalities are at 3,223.

There are 1,227 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 4,957 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care. Of these, 102 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 23 of whom are on ventilatory support and 59 on supplemental oxygen.

Twenty (20) other patients are under observation and 95 are separately on supplemental oxygen with 88 of them in in general wards and seven in High Dependency Units (HDU).

Vaccination is still ongoing countrywide, with 972,601 persons having received the jab against the Covid-19 disease so far. Of these, 294,865 are aged 58 years and above, 165,881 are health workers, 152,769 are teachers, 82,428 are security officers and 276,658 others.
