Ward Representatives have asked to be provided with bodyguards and guns, citing increase in number of insecurity cases targeting them.
The 78 MCAs said their safety was at stake outside the assembly chambers.
Their concerns come as police investigated an incident where Biashara Ward MCA Peter Njoroge Nyaguthii was on Monday night attacked by a knife-wielding assailant in Nakuru town. Police arrested the suspect.
Yesterday, the MCAs said there had been six other incidents targeting them.
Naivasha East MCA Stanley Karanja, who chairs the Security Committee, said an urgent meeting with the county security committee must be held to seek a way forward.
“This is serious, as we do not know if our colleagues were attacked because of personal matters or issues to do with their roles as members of the county assembly,” said Mr Karanja.
During the debate, it also emerged that Kihigo MCA George Kiarie was robbed of his motor vehicle last weekend when a gang raided his home.
A week ago, Deputy Speaker Samuel Tonui’s home in Mauche was raided by armed robbers, who fled after police were called.
Speaker Joel Kairo agreed with Karanja and said a meeting between members and the county security committee would be held.
